Happy Thanksgiving

Like the Pilgrims crossing the Atlantic, our seven hour trek to the Plimoth Plantation seemed to take an eternity.  It was all well worth it since this is the most incredible living history museum, and the first place we have been that wasn't decorated for Christmas.  See, Andy  I told you we would find the lost holiday of Thanksgiving somewhere.   We started out at  the 1620 English settlement and interacted with the townspeople.  The reenactors are refreshingly true to character in direct conflict with niceties and 21st century political correctness.  We enjoyed our Thanksgiving meal at a "family style" buffet with a family visiting from Virginia.  David found a kindred spirit to commiserate with about the cold and she recommended  the perfect Florida beaches to spend Christmas.

Overlooking the Pilgrim village.

After our Thanksgiving dinner- abundant with ambiance and atmosphere, but  not the greatest food.

After dinner it was off to  Wal-mart to stay the night.  Since we had planned to camp there, we thought it would be fun to get up really early to partake in the Black Friday madness.  We were shocked to see 15 people already lined up outside when we arrived at 9:00pm.   David took camp chairs and manned the first 90 minute shift while Karly and I put on seven layers of clothes  for our long night ahead.   This was an experience like no other.  The best part was just spending time together with no where else to be, except maybe warm and in bed.  The time passed quickly while we watched the police settle disputes and Karly red  me stories off the Internet about the temporary employee who was trampled to death and about the "Buy Nothing Day"  group on Facebook.  Karly actually did " buy nothin;," she was there as a line placeholder and moral support.  Even when it was all over we had to jump into a tide of people heading in the general direction of the front door just to get out of the store.   It was literally wall to wall people.  If you are looking for a way to kick off the Christmas season and get you into the Christmas spirit this is definitely NOT IT!   However, anything can be fun with a friend : )
